So I have decided to participate in Lent this year. Some lingering Catholic guilt may be the inspiration. I think it is more related to my masochistic tendencies and constant need to try and prove to myself that I do have willpower (prob because I really do not have willpower for more that 2 weeks.)
I had planned to give up carbs for Lent so that I could drop some Lbs before the spring/ summer season that is rumored to be here in the next month or 2. I am skeptical as it is snowing (again) and I forget what the sun looks like.
KC was pretty adamant that I do not give up carbs. I guess my last little experiment with Atkins this past fall was just as miserable for him as it was for me. I find it hard to believe that it was hard for him because let’s face it, life really cannot be that bad when you are eating cereal and French fries and I am ALWAYS sooo pleasant; but none the less I have no reason not to trust the kid.
After KC vetoed me giving up carbs,I asked him for suggestions for things he thought I could give up for Lent that would help me to improve my health. I assume he prob thought he was in some sort of a female trap when I asked him. (OH, so you do think I need to lose weight by giving up something?!?) The only caveat; coffee and red wine were not to be suggested as I would not want to live in a world where I did not have those 2 things for 40 days.
KC suggested dessert. I liked this suggestion. This is not something that I NEED (like coffee and red wine) but it is something that I eat more of than I should. Often I eat it just because it is there. Maybe I should consider removing the candy dish from my office…
So I indulged in sooooo many cookies to make up for the fact that I would not be having cookies or ice cream or whipped cream… Hmmm… maybe I did not think this through properly….
Wish me luck!
I felt like such an adult tonight. After my 10 hour work day, I walked in the door to find KC assembling the new Bissel Vacum we ordered off Amazon. You would have thought it was a new toy by how excited we both were. KC excitedly finished putting the vacuum together as I cooked dinner and we argued about whether to keep the large box it came in…
KC and I just got HBO which is beyond exciting to me. Last year at this time I did not even have cable and now here I am living the high life with 2 cable boxes, DVR, HD, NFL Redzone and now HBO?!? Living the life of luxury fo sho.
5AM wake up, again… Bed nice and early to accommodate!
Anyone else giving up things for Lent?
I was at the gym just before 6 AM. Started on the treadmill with the goal to do a 1-2 min walking warm up followed by 5x 400s this means running .25 miles at a quick pace with walk/ jog breaks in between. I hate doing this on the treadmill as much as my dog hates pooping in the snow.
I managed to do 3 400’s at an 8min and 25 sec pace on an incline of 2.5. (I walked between each jaunt.)
This took me about 10 min with my walk breaks.
Followed up with some strength training (lower body and Abs)
