Why hello there! I have been far too busy cookout hopping and drinking adult beverages to share with you my exploits of the weekend. I shall break it down for ya.
Friday- Went to the gym and completed my strength training routine. My plan had been to run but the weather was gloomy and I decided my time was better spent cuddling with Sadie on the couch and binge watching Entourage. It was glorious and my work out was great too! I finished the day by running some errands, a hike in the rain with Sadie and then apps and drinks with the BF. I ate the spiciest buffalo wings I have ever consumed as well as some delicious potato skins. Not too shabby for the beginning of my holiday weekend.
Saturday- Work wife gracefully turned 30 on Saturday! The original plan had been to have a legit “Dirty Thirty” with mud wrestling and dirty martinis (I assume). That was dropped and it was decided to have a clean thirty with a pool and flotation devices, the weather ruined that dream. So, we did what all 30 year-olds do, we went thrifting, then discussed taxes and politics while drinking moderately and eating surf & turf. I had the best time! I am glad I went for a 3.5 miler before heading over to Lauren’s. Besides eating a pound of steak, I also had 3 desserts including a homemade raspberry cheeescake with a dark chocolate crust and ganache. This dessert will haunt my dreams. Sunday- I convinced KC that we should walk downtown for breakfast despite the ominous looking clouds. We had a nice walk and delightful breakfast. I, of course, got the breakfast burrito. It was filled with steak, eggs and veggies. It was smothered in enchilada sauce and cheese. I opted for a fruit side vs home-fries since I was prob at risk of getting scurvy after a weekend of red meat and processed foods. After breakfast, I went to the gym where I completed my normal strength training routine sans lunges as my knees have been bothering me. I felt fine throughout the workout but was quite sore leaving the gym. I went home and iced for awhile, before heading to my cousin’s house for a cookout with my mom’s side of the family. Miraculously, the sun came out! And it was glorious! I also managed to only consume one pulled pork sandwich despite it being delicious. We returned home where I watched 2 consecutive hours of “My 600 lb Life” whilst eating golden grahams.
Monday- KC and I got up at 630 AM for no good reason… while we had intentions of getting my car inspected before he headed into work but no place was open. He headed to work, while I geared up for a long run. Right before I headed out, KC called to say he did not have to work after all. I was delighted! We made plans for a day date in Portsmouth. I set out for my run and began planning all the places we would eat. Luckily, KC bought me the MVP membership of Map My Run so I was somewhat paying attention to my splits. Before I got to mile 3 my knees were really hurting so I decided to make it a 5 miler. I stopped timing it before then because I was happy with my 9.19 splits. I jogged the last quarter mile home slowly. I iced my knees for a good 30 minutes. Then KC and I headed out for a day-o-fun! We had nachos and margaritas on the deck. We went window shopping. We had beers. We went to a high-end thrift store. We got iced coffee. KC even accompanied me to my hair appt AND bikini shopping. He is either more masochistic than I am, or the nicest human on the face of the planet. We finished our day with grocery shopping and watching Archer.
I’m about to get all gushy which is really unlike my cynical self so please feel free to glaze over this next bit. I had the best holiday weekend! I truly feel blessed and lucky to have the most amazing and supportive boyfriend, friends and family. I had been in this funk about my weight for weeks. I was getting really frustrated with myself. But, with a little encouragement from those who know me best, I am feeling much more positive about things.
